Now I need to open with a disclaimer – this is not, as such, a list of resolutions. It would be more accurate to describe this as ‘a list of books/series I would like to get to this year’, but I won’t cry if I don’t manage them all nor will I be revolutionising/changing the way I do my reading. But that doesn’t make for a catchy title, does it?
I am a lover of lists. I even recently found a list of lists I need to make in one of my notebooks, but my problem is that I don’t keep them in one place, nor do I regularly go back to check if I’ve completed the tasks. I use them more for a kind of brain dump for what’s bothering me/floating in my head at the time. Which is all very well and good, but doesn’t help me in relation to remembering which books I want to read/what new releases are upcoming. I find it tricky to remember which series I’m waiting for a new book in, which ones I just need to buy the sequels for, and which new releases I have my eye on. So my plan is to type up a central list of books/series I would like to read so that I can come back to it over the year and remember.
Are you ready for my ultimate list? Are you sure? It’s pretty long… Here we go: Continue reading “2019 Reading Resolutions”
On these cold days and dark nights I’m tempted to curl up with some of my favourite novels, candles and blankets and indulge my desire to reread, yet weirdly, I’m filled with guilt at the mere thought. That’s not right, is it? Over the past few months I’ve done quite a bit of rereading, because a new book in a series has been released or because I have fond memories of reading it the first time round and I want to experience that joy again. Surely that’s acceptable, isn’t it? In the back of my mind I’m aware that there are so many books in the world that I want to read but I will never get the chance to, you know, the age old ‘too many books, too little time’. My to-be-read lists and shelves get bigger with every second I browse Goodreads/Instagram/Waterstones, every time I read a book by a new-to-me author and decide I need their backlist and with every juicy new release by well-loved and debut authors alike. But this should not prevent me from enjoying a good old reread. It can be rare to find an author/series/stand alone book that resonates so deep you want to read it again and again, so why stop myself? Easy. I shouldn’t and I won’t. Here are 6 reasons you should embrace the reread. Continue reading “6 Reasons to Reread”
Okay guys, how is it August already?! On the one hand, I feel like we’re having the worlds longest summer but on the other, where has the year gone? Ah well, thank goodness it’s Friday.
In anticipation for the TV adaption, I am reading the third and final book Continue reading “Bookends | #018”
I’m currently reading the third and final novel in Deborah Harkness’ All Souls trilogy, The Book of Life, in anticipation for this year’s upcoming tv adaptation. I absolutely adored A Discovery of Witches (book 1) so I’m super keen to see how the show portrays the characters and events. That got me thinking about other fantasy series I would love to see on the big (or little!) screen.

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a lovely weekend and are raring and ready to go. I thought I’d look at some of my favourite book covers to brighten the day.
To anyone who follows me on any social media, the first covers will not be a surprise… Continue reading “Book Covers | a few of my favourite things”
Another week, another Bookends! Happy reading.
This year I’m really enjoying picking up nonfiction. I studied history at university so after reading it non-stop for three years, I went the opposite way and only read fiction for a long time after I graduated. It’s slowly been seeping back into my normal reading life and Continue reading “Bookends | #017”
Happy Monday, one and all! The internet is littered with ‘feel good’ quotes to get everyone motivated to seize the day, and after seeing what feels like the 100th I thought about some of my favourite book quotes. They’re not exactly carpe diem but I thought I’d share some of them with you. Enjoy!

I started the year with such good intentions to write a post every week summing up what I’ve read/started reading in that week . I’m quite proud with how long I managed to keep up that madness (16 weeks!) but it became tricky to find the time to write up all my opinions, especially when I’d read more than 3 books that week. So, going forward I’m going to try a new format: voila! Each week I’m going to write about what I’m currently reading, watching, listening to and loving. Hopefully it’ll be a lovely blend of weekly books and favourites – & will most often be completely bookish as that is just how I roll – because if you really want to know every book I’ve read, you can check out my reading list, or be my friend on Goodreads. We’ll see how it goes…

I love a good podcast. If I could listen to a new episode of some of my favourites every day, I’d be a very happy lady. Alas, most of these wonderful listening experiences put out new content weekly, fortnightly or some even monthly. Hmm, a great excuse to find more to fill the gaps to be honest… Anyway, here are some of my go-to shows and some I’ve seen on social media that I plan to get to soon. I debated with myself about whether I should post this as I haven’t actually had that many ‘wow, this book is AMAZING‘ books. Shocking, right?! Or maybe not. Maybe some years are just stronger than others, I remember struggling to narrow down my top ten reads of 2017 as I had read so many great books but so far, 2018 has been a very average reading year for me. But enough of that, onto some stories I really love. Continue reading “Favourite Books So Far | Jan – Jun 2018”
