Another week, another Bookends! Happy reading.

This year I’m really enjoying picking up nonfiction. I studied history at university so after reading it non-stop for three years, I went the opposite way and only read fiction for a long time after I graduated. It’s slowly been seeping back into my normal reading life and Continue reading “Bookends | 27.07.18”

Veil of Spear by Bradley Beaulieu

Hello, hello, hello 🙂 hope this week’s been good to you and if you’ve enjoyed a lovely four day weekend followed by a four day working week comme moi, I hope it’s been wonderful. If you’ve had to work as normal/more than normal, you are a hero.

My reading week has been a mixed bag, I’ve had two fantastic reads and two very disappointing reads – but the fantastic included my first five star read of the year so you know, without further ado… Continue reading “Bookends | 06.04.18”

Bookends | 30.03.18

Oh hello four day weekend, you have good timing! I have finally shaken the lurgy that took me down for two weeks – I feel terrible that I didn’t post a Bookends last week, the only one I’ve missed! But even if I had been able to sit  and concentrate for long enough, I wouldn’t have had much to chat about. Turns out I struggle to read when poorly – being sick is actually very boring.

Anyway, I am all better now and I’ve got some great books to discuss from the past fortnight.

I’d seen a lot of hype over Continue reading “Bookends | 30.03.18”

Bruges

Despite being on holiday for most of this week in sunny Bruges, I still managed to get through 3 books! Although I didn’t have as much time during the day to read I did have plenty of time while traveling on the various trains. The Eurostar is fabulous. Bruges was amazingly stunning, it is full of cobbled streets, breath-taking architecture and lovely, kind people. Oh and hundreds of chocolate shops, I even out-chocolated myself which I’d always thought an impossibility. I highly recommend it if you’re inclined to pretty medieval tourist spots. I could totally imagine princesses, knights and dragons roaming the streets. Anyway, onto les livres!

I mentioned last week Continue reading “Bookends | 09.02.18”

Oh hey, February. The days are actually brighter, it’s marginally warmer… things are looking up! Although I am fully prepared for the final dip into winter we’re bound to have before spring. It’s a good job I have all the books to distract myself.

Another productive reading week, Continue reading “Bookends | 02.02.18”

Of Sand and Malice Made & Blood Upon the Sand by Bradley P Beaulieu

I cannot believe it’s the last Friday of January. The sun has even shined this week! I know February and March are usually the darker, wetter months of the year, but February is *the* birthday month in my family so I’m excited that it is around the corner. I hope January has treated you all well and that your start to 2018 has been awesome. My reading week has been far better than last, no 1 star ratings and a new favourite book/series/author! Let’s get to it.
