Happy Monday! Hope you all had a lovely weekend and are raring and ready to go. I thought I’d look at some of my favourite book covers to brighten the day.
To anyone who follows me on any social media, the first covers will not be a surprise… I adore Robin Hobb’s Realm of the Elderlings series on the inside and the outside. Let’s just take a moment to look at how beautiful they are. Ahh. Jackie Morris is a genius.
Now, the next covers are a bit of a touchy subject for me as the publishers have since republished this series with new (boring!) covers and I regularly worry that the new books, if they’re ever released, will not match my collection. First world problems, I know. But these are so pretty! Enter: A Song of Ice and Fire by George R R Martin. Yes, I’m a fantasy lover cliche.
For my Juliet Marillier pick, I’ve gone for the trilogy with the mismatched covers… but they’re all beautiful so I’ll suck it up. These are the first three books of Marillier’s Sevenwaters (widely considered as a series made up of two trilogies).
Next up, The Forgotten Beasts of Eld by Patricia A McKillip. This book is incredible and I will be recommending it to everyone forever. At 200 pages, it’s not a big commitment but you won’t regret it!. Go read it, now!
How beautiful is the colour scheme for Twelve Kings by Bradley P Beaulieu? Every time I look at it makes me think of a summer sunset. And you should definitely judge this book by its cover, it is amazing. I can’t believe it took me so long to pick up, I devoured it and instantly picked up the sequels to binge read.
And finally for today, the stunning, the intricate, the gorgeous: Angela Carter’s Book of Fairy Tales.
So lovely to see some Hobb! 😏 I do love those editions but I love the first covers she did slightly more – the small size is also very cute. 🙊
I haven’t heard of The Forgotten Beasts of Eld before but I’ll have to look it up!

Ahh fair enough! I like the little pictures in the shield bits of these covers. So clever and pretty. I think i manage to squeeze Hobb into every list 😂🙈
Ooh Forgotten Beasts of Eld is so great! Super short but the story is complete – I just wish it was the start of a series ☹️So so good 😊

Love that cover of Angela Carter’s book and also the cover of The Forgotten Beasts of Eld. I need to read some Juliet Marillier. I’ve heard such great things about her books.

I hope you enjoy 😊 Sevenwaters is a good place to start for Marillier, i couldn’t get into her Blackthorn and Grim series. Heart’s Blood (stand alone) was really great too 😄

I love the cover of your copy of Forgotten Beasts of Eld – my copy is the old Fantasy Masterworks cover with some sort of weird girl-unicorn-dragon splodge on the front. 😦 But I love the book too much to part with it!! 😀

It’s soooo good isn’t it?! I can’t believe it doesn’t have more hype/praise. Have you read any of her other works?
