Happy Monday, one and all! The internet is littered with ‘feel good’ quotes to get everyone motivated to seize the day, and after seeing what feels like the 100th I thought about some of my favourite book quotes. They’re not exactly carpe diem but I thought I’d share some of them with you. Enjoy!

The Forgotten Beasts of Eld – Patricia A McKillip

‘I will not let you wander among the stars alone.’

Tigana – Guy Gavriel Kay

‘There are no wrong turnings. Only paths we had not known we were meant to walk.’

Much Ado About Nothing – William Shakespeare

‘I can see he’s not in your good books,’ said the messenger.
No, and if he were I would burn my library.

Children of Earth and Sky – Guy Gavriel Kay

‘Villages or farms on a violent border divided by faith didn’t become peaceful because of pen strokes in courts far away.’

Northanger Abbey – Jane Austen

‘The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.’

The Love Poems – Ovid

‘We too shall live in verse the whole world through,
And my name shall be ever linked with you.’

Midsummer Night’s Dream – William Shakespeare

‘The course of true love never did run smooth.’

‘Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind,
And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.’

‘To say the truth, reason and love keep little company together nowadays.’

Deathless – Catherynne M Valente

‘   “I do not tolerate a world emptied of you. I have tried. For a year I have called every black tree Marya Morevna; I have looked for your face in the patterns of the ice. In the dark, I have pored over the loss of you like pale gold.”

“Everyone endures hard things…”

” I refuse,” he whispered.  ‘
